Today I achieved that great milestone. My story is written. The plot is complete, and things are reasonably cohesive. My first/second draft is done.
I’m going to take a day or two and let the story sit. Then I edit it for language use and adding in sensual references. That’s where we get rid of the rest of the first draft writing and use language to draw the reader into the story. I’m still working on the erotica, so even if I let the one story rest before my next editing, I have plenty to work on. I can also plot out the next book the rest of the way, or work on the sequel to the one I just finished. I’ll take this moment and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment I have, knowing I’ve done something many people never manage. I wrote a book. Soon I’ll make it a good book, with the rest of the editing, but I’ll love each moment of the process. Writing is as much a journey as the characters experience, just a different kind of journey. Go, explore an idea, and finish a story. It doesn’t have to be long, just get writing!
