Eastern Border Woods - Aili's New HomeWhen Aili sets off to find her place in the world, she goes East. She passes from the warmer plains style of forest in the West to a rougher mountainous woodlands, with more evergreens. A thick and rugged landscape, she encounters a wide variety of animals here.
The Eastern Camp is on the edge of the woods, where farmland transitions to rolling hills and fields become the forest. |
Western Woods - Aili's playgroundAili grew up playing in the thick woods, full of deciduous trees. The Western Woods are actually in the middle of the country, due to a quirk of borders moving centuries ago. Full of trees like aspens, this forest looks different with each change of the seasons.
The capital city is on the Eastern edge of the forest, and Aili's home was near the edge of the city. She'd take off and play in the woods and learn to survive on her own. |
THe Rainforest - Aili is soakedAili travels with Andvari to the Rainforest in the North. She encounters rain and moisture in quantities she's never experienced before. She also sees an abundance of plant and animal species beyond anything she's encountered before in her life.
Shocked by the height and thickness of the trees, Aili is fascinated by the diversity she can find in small areas. She also gets to learn about herbs she doesn't see farther South. The Rainforest is wilder with fewer farms and towns. |
The Tundra - Aili is FrozenDeep in the South, the snow is thick and the winter is long. Cities are large and far apart, and the forests grow everywhere between. Farming is confined to small areas around the city, as the land is tough and the climate is cold. Growing seasons are short.
Aili continues traveling with Andvari as he checks on the Scout camps around the country, including the frozen South. Will she ever feel her hands or feet again? Why does the air hurt her face? Is she being punished for something? |
